How to use the materials PDF Print E-mail

This material is the asynchronous part of e-learning course "Project Management in GI Projects – part I (theory)" and is intended for self-study. At the beginning of the course, there will be a synchronous session (online with teacher and fellow students). On the e-learning platform, a quiz for self-testing is implemented for each module. Students are expected to do one test after each module. After the end of part I, there will be an online exam.

The basis of part I is a textbook: Robert K. Wysocki (2009): Effective Project Management (fifth edition), Wiley Publishing (Introduction and chapters 1 – 7). The online material highlights important aspects of the textbook and adds contents where necessary.

Each module consists of 4 sections:

  • Introduction: Tells about the topic and the goals of the module.
  • Content: Contains the content of the module (consisting of 1-4 sub-modules).
  • Summary: Recapitulates what you have just learned and gives you references and links for further information.
  • Task: Describes your assignment for this module. At the end of each module, students are supposed to switch to the e-Learning platform in order to address the self-test questions implemented there.

A more detailed description of the course and access to resources can be found in the syllabus.

Part II is the practical part of this course. Step by step, students are to develop a project plan for a virtual project. The development is based on communication among the students and between teacher and students (online sessions, email). These teaching materials provide an overview about this second part of the course.
