Two years after the Institute for Geoinformatics had started its digital publications in the internet with geoinformatik_online, the first edition of ifgi Prints was published. The IfGIprints are complementing geoinformatik_online as a medium for the publishment of extensive articles in printed and therefore conservated and quotable form on the long term.

The IfGIprints are not to be limited to the technology of geoinformation systems, but are to include all subjects of modelling, detection, administration, analysis and visualisation of spatial data. They are to reflect the strong dynamic in the development and application and therefore must remain open. Apart from single articles, which are summarised to thematic focal points (thematic issues), especially dissertations, diploma theses, project reports and conference articles are to be published. Four to six editions are planned each year and are offered at cost-price.
