Research Interests

My research investigates how to model the meaning of geospatial information and its changes across contexts. Relevant contexts are human activities, professional disciplines, natural languages, and information communities.

With MUSIL, I pursue this question in the technical settings of information system interoperability and usability. Using methods from information science, cognitive science, and mathematics, we investigate

  • how geospatial information can be annotated to facilitate discovery,
  • how information sources can be integrated in decision making, and
  • how data and operations can be translated from one context to another.
